The history of West London Homeopaths

Annie

The West London Homoeopaths group dates back to 1986. It was the brainchild of Annie Summers and Claire James, College of Homeopathy students atttending regular tutorials in Ealing with lecturer Mike Bridger (now principal of the Contemporary College of Homoeopathy in Bristol).

Founding members of the group were Annie Summers, Claire James, Andree Ryan, Jo Buchanan, Jane Temple, Roger Sharpley and Sabine Grocholski.

The group was later joined by Ruth Sparks and Kathy Tomlinson from London College of Classical Homoeopathy, as well as Robert Bridge and Leonora Mansell from the College of Homeopathy. It expanded rapidly into a very popular community group providing regular talks for both qualified and student homeopaths in the West London area. As the years passed, Annie Summers worked tirelessly to keep the group alive until sadly, she succumbed to cancer in April 2006.

The group was revived later that year, by Val Southorn and others but tragically, we also lost Val to cancer in December 2007.

In the autumn of 2007, West London Homeopaths had a wooden bench installed and a liquidamber maple tree planted in Gunnersbury Park, in loving memory of Annie, and in 2008, a donation was made in Val's memory to the Lamu Dispensary, a homeopathic clinic on Lamu Island, Kenya.

We thank our founders for their innovation and foresight, with the hope that they are happy with West London Homeopaths in its current incarnation.
